  • About the A-lister +

    Kjwan

Hailing from Manila, Philippines, Kjwan's headstrong break into the rock scene in 2003 marked the start of the five-piece group's rampage of laying waste to other bands by playing rock music as it is meant to be played.

Comprised of Marc Abaya (vocals), Kelley Mangahas (bass), Boogie Romero (guitar), Eo Marcos (drums), and Enrique de Dios' (keys), the members' interplay is lauded as a defiant compound of theatrical intensity and melodic assault to be reckoned with. Kjwan's influence, despite former lineup and label changes, grows larger as ever, making them a hot commodity and one of this generation's respected rock acts.

The band's long list of achievements include the "Ani Ng Dangal" award from the Office of the President and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts in recognition for winning in the 2007 IKON ASEAN in Malaysia, a feature as Yahoo-South East Asia's Band of the Month, and various awards and nominations for their songs and music videos.

As of this writing, Kjwan is set to release the second volume of their three-EP series called KJWAN IV. The series' first single "My Axis" enjoyed phenomenal airplay and reached top spots in most music countdowns both on radio and television.

In the years since its emergence, Kjwan remains influential and a touchstone of Filipino musical artistry.
